Before soap-making became a factory process with colorful packaging, Aleppo crafted it in its own way: olive oil, laurel oil, water, and a bit of lye, nothing more. The mixture is cooked in large cauldrons, then poured onto the ground and left to solidify, after which it is cut into square blocks, hand-stamped, and stored to dry for many months. During this drying process, the soap loses its green color from the outside and gains its distinctive golden layer, while its core remains green — a test known to the people of Aleppo: break the piece and look inside.

This piece was made in the same way. Its composition is simple and free from synthetic fragrances and added colors, with laurel oil giving it a calming earthy scent and properties that have made this soap renowned for centuries in skincare and hair care.

It is suitable for daily use for washing the face and body, and many use it as an alternative to shampoo. It is also used to protect woolen clothes from moths by placing a piece between the folds. The longer it dries, the harder and more durable it becomes in use.

A practical piece in appearance, rich in heritage, and a gift that befits those who appreciate things made with care.
