Before poetry becomes a book on the shelf, it used to gather people. In this experience, we return poetry to its original environment: a traditional Damascene house, with a water fountain in the middle, similar carpets, and poets reciting directly in front of you. You will hear selections from modern and classical Syrian poetry, and learn about the names that shaped the poetic scene in Syria — from Omar Abu Risha and Badawi Al-Jabal to Nizar Qabbani and Muhammad Al-Maghout — with a simple explanation of the context of each stage. And for those who do not understand Arabic or understand it partially: we will provide a brief explanation in English between the verses, because the rhythm can be appreciated even before understanding the meaning.

Certainly, and there is a short open mic segment at the end of the evening. Let us know when you book so we can reserve a time for you — in any language you prefer.
Ages 12 and up. The nature of sitting and listening for a long time may not be suitable for younger ones.
Silent photography is permitted, but we ask that you silence your phones out of respect for the performer and the audience. We will allocate a few minutes for photography after the segments end.
